ASUS Eee PC X101 Review

Asus is certainly one of the historically most advanced manufacturers in the market Hi-Tech is always ready to experiment and innovate with products often very "forward", can not only meet but to anticipate the needs of users, as it happened with netbooks, of which Taiwan has pioneered the house with the successful Eee PC family. And the famous family of ultra-portable device belongs to the new Asus Eee PC X101.

Again we are faced with an innovative product in many respects. Meanwhile, it is a netbook, given the 10.1-inch diagonal, but the chassis is very thin as a MacBook Air ultraportable Apple style. In addition, the handset is equipped with the new version of part of the Intel Atom platform, Oak Trail and offers a choice of two operating systems, the most classic and complete Microsoft Windows 7 and Meego, which we have already spoken several times in the latter period and more devoted to ease of use and entertainment. Let's proceed with order.

As said, the body size is characterized by very limited, especially in thickness, and shows a diagonal 10.1-inch display, with resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels. There will be several colors besides the red and brown shown in the preview. Eee PC X101 is characterized by separate elements to chiclet keyboard, large touchpad multitouch and generally very clean lines and sleek, which enhance the thickness of thin (less than 17.6 mm). The weight will be less then a pound. Despite its size, however, X101 Eee PC offers two USB 2.0 ports, headphone output, a card reader and a bout of Kensington and houses inside a 6-cell battery, which should ensure very high autonomy. One of the more substantial, however, two innovations on the hardware used.

When you do not know the complete configuration, except for storage, which can be given a choice to an SSD or a traditional hard drive. The processor, however, will be an Intel Atom 1.5 GHz, which is part of the new family Oak Trail. The CPU will be supported by a graphics subsystem that promises to last up to a device devoted to multimedia. Intel GMA 600, this name is in fact based on a version of the PowerVR GPU GSX, as the GMA 500, which equips the Silverthorne Atom current, but compared to what works in one dual frequency of 400 MHz as already happens for the GMA 500 also offer full support for hardware acceleration decoding of compressed video formats in HD, such as MPEG-2, VC- 1 and AVC.

Asus EeePC X101 propose her in two versions: X101H equipped with Microsoft operating system Windows 7 and for the professional who needs more in order to use extreme mobility of business applications, while giving up at least in part to pure performance. ASUS EeePC instead of X101 will be equipped with the new operating system Meego, which will offer an interface and user experience tailored to the navigation and general entertainment and multimedia, as happens for example Apple's iPhone OS and Google Android.

Asus EeePC X101 is expected to cost about $ 209, a really aggressive, combined with the services offered by the new platform and the presence of Meego, Asus could lead to repeat the glories of the first generation of netbooks.
